How to Make Your Own Destructed Jeans

Destructed and destroyed jeans are a hip fashion statement. Some high-end retailers sell these types of jeans for hundreds of dollars. Instead of buying an expensive pair of these jeans, try destroying your own jeans. Dig in your closet to find an old pair of jeans, grab a few tools and start your fashion expedition.

Instructions

    1

Open a pair of scissors and use one edge to scrape along the hems and pockets of your jeans to give them a slight frayed look.

    2

Mix equal parts of household bleach and laundry detergent in a small bowl. Soak a cotton ball in the mix and rub it on any area of the jeans where you want a faded look. Let it dry for about an hour before doing any more destroying.

    3

Snip a small hole in the knee. Stick your fingers in the hole and tear slightly to create a small rip. Don't cut or rip too much; the hole will expand when you wash them.

    4

Put a wood block in the leg of the jeans. Use a cheese grater or sandpaper to go over any areas where you want a frayed and faded look. Don't press too hard or you'll create holes instead.

    5

Make small cuts under the pockets and on small areas of fabric on the thighs; use the grater or sandpaper again for more frays.

    6

Wash your jeans in warm water. Air-dry your jeans if you do not want them to shrink.
