Wearing jeans tucked into boots is a trend that will always be in style. While skinny jeans are the ideal jean to tuck into boots because of the tight ankle, wide-leg jeans will also work with a few tricks. The wide-leg jean is essentially a wider leg that flares outward starting at the knee. The look is similar to a bell-bottom but slightly smaller in the pant opening, which is close to 10 inches wide. Choose a boot that is tall to help accommodate the excess material and not look sloppy or bunched up within the boot.
Instructions
- 1
Put on a pair of nylon or cotton tube socks. The socks should not be longer than the top of the boot and they should fit comfortably around your foot.
2Fold the bottom of the jeans upward, similar to a cuff. Because of the excess fabric of longer, wider jeans you should only fold the jeans once.
3Pull the folded fabric upward until the bottom of the jeans is 1 inch from your ankle bone.
4Grab the bottom of the cuff and pull outward with one hand. Use your other hand to create a vertical fold in the cuff at your ankle.
5Keep the jeans tight against your ankle and wrap the excess fabric over your other hand. At this point your jeans will resemble skinny jeans with the excess fabric wrapped around your ankle area.
6Hold the jeans tight at the ankle area with one hand, and pull the sock over the jeans using your other hand.
7Release the jeans and adjust the sock over the jeans so there are no large bumps. Tuck in the jeans to the top of the boot if there is bunching.
8Pull the boot on and repeat with the other leg.
