How to Gently Fade Your Jeans

New jeans can sometimes be uncomfortable and stiff, and not quite the style you had hoped for. Fading your jeans can be done at home with laundry ingredients. Faded jeans gives a more vintage yet modern look, and will give you a new style without the hassle or money spent on buying them.

Instructions

    1

Wash your jeans in the washing machine alone on a regular cycle using hot water and double the amount of laundry detergent.

    2

Fill up the washing machine with warm water after the first cycle has completed. Add in 1 quart of bleach with 1/2 cup of white vinegar.

    3

Put the pants in the washer with the bleach and vinegar mix and let them soak up to 30 minutes. Check on the jeans every 5 to 10 minutes to ensure that the bleach is not damaging them.

    4

Take out the jeans and drain the water, then put the washer on the rinse cycle. Put the jeans back in while the water is filling and add a 1/2 cap of fabric softener. Put the jeans in the dryer once the washing cycle has finished.
