Whiskers on jeans give the impression of the jeans being well worn and broken in, even if they are brand new. They are marks on the jeans that are lighter in color on the hips, thighs and knees, resembling the whiskers of a cat. Ironing the whiskers on your jeans gives the markings more definition and gives your denim an updated, custom look.
Instructions
- 1
Draw the whiskers on your jeans with chalk while wearing them, if they do not already have whiskers on them. Drawing the whiskers with chalk allows you to perfect where the whiskers will be placed and give your jeans a custom look. Follow the contours of your hips and thighs.
2Apply a bleach pen over the chalk to create your whiskers. You may also use fine sandpaper for a less noticeable whisker. Use a smaller amount of bleach for a fainter whisker, or a heavier amount for a more obvious whisker.
3Wash the jeans. If you wash them in warm or hot water the bleach pen markings will be more prominent.
4Fold your damp jeans, following the lines of the whiskers. Iron the crease following the whisker line using the high setting on your iron. Repeat for all whiskers on your jeans. This adds dimension and a custom worn look to your jeans.
5Allow your jeans to air dry thoroughly to set the whisker iron marks so they will last until the next time you wash your jeans.
