How to Keep Your Flare Jeans From Wrinkling in Boots

Boots over jeans are a chic fashion trend that has quickly become the standard for many women. The problem with flare jeans lies in how to keep your jeans from wrinkling around the tops of your boots. Flare jeans are naturally wider at the base, so there is more fabric to tuck in. If your flare jeans fit you well and you aren't ready to try the skinny jean look, several techniques can help you achieve an unwrinkled look.

Purchase elastic stirrups that clip to your jeans to keep them down around your ankles. The stirrups, also called straps, have suspender-style clips on both ends of a short elastic band that goes around the bottom of your foot, while the clips attach to either side of your jean cuff. The stirrups keep your jeans straight and stop them from riding up and wrinkling at the top of the boot. Wear tall boots with a wide upper shaft to allow for the extra bulk of flare jeans.

Fold the cuffs of your jeans over and tuck the ends into mid-calf socks. There will be a crease mid-shin from the fold, but mid-calf socks hide the crease and provide a strong hold to keep your jeans in place. This method works for mid-calf boots, but knee-high boots more easily and completely hide the fold and sock.

Fold the cuffs of your jeans over and secure the fold with a rubber band around your ankle. This method works in a pinch when you don't have mid-calf socks available. Knee-high boots are essential with this method because there isn't a long sock to cover and smooth the crease.

Fold the cuffs over and roll them up twice to hold the fold in place. This is similar to the "tight roll" look of the 80s. This works best with wide-shaft boots because the roll at the bottom creates bulk around your ankle.
