Jeans rank among the most casual and comfortable items of clothing. Versatile and varied in their style and color, most women love their jeans. Recycle your jeans into a full-length jean skirt. Use a well-worn pair or a new pair to remodel into a brand new look. Keep it all denim, add a bohemian print, or make your skirt look romantic with a flourish of lace.
Instructions
- 1

Choose a pair of jeans that reach to your ankles to make a full-length skirt. Use a seam ripper or small, sharp scissors to carefully open up the inner leg seams by removing the stitches.
2Open the seams from the ankles up to the top, stopping approximately 1 inch below the zipper in the front and about 8 inches below the waistband in the back.
3Lay your open pair of jeans flat on a table or flat surface. If the jeans do not lie flat, remove a few more seam stitches to open the seams further.
4The back will have extra fabric. Trim some of this away, allowing up to 1 inch of fabric in this area to overlap. Turn the jeans inside out so that the inside fabric is facing you.
5Hand-sew, machine-sew or use fabric glue on this reverse side to close up the back seam, attaching one leg of the jeans to the other. Set the fabric overlap in place and close the seams down to the very bottom of the legs. If you used glue, let it dry thoroughly.
6The front of your skirt will now have a gap. Measure the area that is open from below the zipper to floor length. Add up to 2 inches to this measurement to include a bottom hem. Use the measurement to mark and cut a panel from the filler fabric you chose; cut the panel fuller to allow for increased movement.
7Hand-sew, machine-sew, or glue your filler fabric into the triangular opening. Hem the bottom of the fabric for a finished look.

Turn the jean skirt right side out. The back of your skirt and around the sides will be all jean fabric with a cut-out in front of your choice of fabric.
