How to Fix Tight Jeans

Jeans that mold to your every curve may give you figure flattery, but they can make it hard to bend or even breathe. When your jeans fit too tightly for comfort, you can stretch them or "break" their fibers to gain some wiggle room. The method you choose to fix your tight jeans will depend on whether you need them within a day or you can wait a while for the results.

Instructions

Wet Method

    1

Put a stopper in a sink and fill the sink with warm water.

    2

Place the tight jeans into the warm water and push them down to submerge. Allow the jeans to soak for 3 or 4 hours.

    3

Hang the dripping wet jeans over a shower rod or clothesline and let dry. Place towels on the floor to catch the drips if you dry them inside. The jeans could take a day or more to dry.

    4

Remove the dry jeans and try them on. They should be looser fitting.

Wear Method

    5

Put on the tight jeans and wear them all day. Sit, bend and squat in them to stretch them.

    6

Wear the jeans again the second day. Continue sitting, bending and squatting to further loosen the fibers.

    7

Wear the jeans a third day to sufficiently loosen them. Sit on the floor and bring your knees up to your chest as a way to stretch them even more.
