Department store denim departments are filled with jeans that look like theyve been worn and loved for longer than their buyers have been alive. They are full of holes and fraying wear spots, despite never being worn. Because of the amount of work required to create the appearance of natural wear, distressed jeans can be quite expensive, but with some simple tools and attention to detail, you can achieve the same effect at home at a more affordable price.
Instructions
- 1
Insert wood block into the jeans directly underneath the area to be distressed.
2Pull the knife downward along the fabric against the wood block, in a shaving type action, until you create a satisfactory hole.
3Rub the edges of the hole with the sandpaper, beginning with the coarser grits and moving to the finer, until the hole looks as desired.
4Repeat steps 1 to 3 as many times as desired.
