How to Determine Women's Pant Sizes

Women's pants come in all shapes and sizes, and it can be difficult to know what size to get. If you can't try on a pair or want to know what size to start with, it is time to take some measurements. With all of the great buys on the Internet, every woman should know her measurements so that she can purchase her size from a variety of vendors. All it takes is a tape measure and a friend.

Instructions

    1

Ask your friend to measure around your natural waist with flexible measuring tape. Record the measurement.

    2

Measure the circumference two inches below your natural waist. This is your "low waist" number that is sometimes required by manufacturers. Record the measurement.

    3

Measure loosely around the widest part of your body between your waist and the top of your thighs. These are your hips. Record the measurement.

    4

Measure your inseam from your crotch to the floor. Record this number for the length of the pants. Alternatively, you can measure the inseam of a pair of pants you already own that are the desired length.

    5

Compare your measurements to the sizing chart from the manufacturer that you wish to purchase from. This will tell you the correct size of pants to buy.
