Keeping up with fashion and trends can be a generally daunting task. For example, 10 years ago, boot cut and looser jeans and pants were all the rage, and were also flattering looks to the average woman's figure. However, you don't have to chuck or donate the piles of looser, baggier pants you might own. Instead of spending money on clothes that society deems most fashionable, you can easily convert your baggy pants to tighter-fitting pants, even if you're just a novice sewer.
Instructions
- 1
Turn your pants inside out. Locate the seams that go up and down the inner parts of your legs. Use a seam ripper to rip the seams open.
2Put on your pants even though the inner seams are gone and the pants are inside out.
3Sit down on the floor and start pulling the inner seams back together, starting at your crotch. Once you get the seams how you want, insert a safety pin. You don't have to make your jeans as tight as skinny jeans, but you can easily tighten the slacks with this method. Continue in this manner down each inner seam of your pant legs, spacing your safety pins no further than 2 inches apart.
4Slide the pants carefully off your legs keeping the pants inside out. Thread your needle with nylon thread. Sew in new seams using a simple running stitch with small, tight stitches that are close together. Double knot your thread when finished and cut away the thread. Alternatively, you could use a sewing machine.
5Cut away excess fabric if necessary and turn your pants right side out.
