Many modern jeans have a faded look. To achieve a similar look at home with your jeans, bleach parts of them. This makes the jeans look like they have started to wear out so much in certain spots that the color is fading out of them. Bleaching your own jeans is cheaper than buying pre-faded jeans from stores because all it requires is a few products readily available in most homes.
Instructions
- 1
Wash the jeans to remove any dirt or buildup.
2Lay the jeans down on a flat piece of cardboard away from clothes, painted walls, carpets and furniture. Even one drop of bleach will turn any of those things white.
3Place the rubber gloves on your hands.
4Pour a small amount of bleach into the bowl.
5Dip the paint brush into the bowl. Gently wipe the brush off the side of the bowl to prevent dripping bleach as much as possible.
6Wipe bleach onto the jeans wherever you want white areas to appear. Some people make two or three large bleached areas on their jeans. Others like brush bleach over the whole pair to whiten the jeans evenly.
7Wait approximately one hour, and wash the jeans by themselves using cold water and detergent on the washing machine's delicate setting. This prevents the bleach from getting on yourself or on anything else.
